Fall Tree Selection
Most of our trees are now container-grown, and are ready now for planting. Some trees we still dig from the field. Digging will begin after a hard freeze (typically by end of October to mid November). Look forward to these varieties: Cloud Nine Dogwood, Cherokee Princess Dogwood, and October Glory Maple. Also Sugar Maple, Tulip Poplar, Autumn Flame Maple, Redbud, Weeping Willow, and more.

Fact: Trees and shrubs are dug while they are dormant. Dormant season begins after the first good freeze. But the plants are only dormant above-ground. Underground, the roots continue to grow all fall, winter, and early spring before the leaves grow actively again. When you plant trees and shrubs in the dormant season, they will have a much more established root system come spring.
